Discover more about this stunning
location on the river Don.
The natural habitats around Donside are surprisingly rich in wildlife. The gently flowing, open stretch of river, the wooded banks opposite, and the many trees around the site combine to create a mixed habitat in which nature flourishes.
In the north-west corner, the remnants of a large garden contain some fine trees, while the banks of the river itself attract many birds including herons, moorhens and dippers. At twilight, pipistrelle bats can be spotted hunting over the water, while roe deer and the occasional otter can be seen along the banks. By working to protect the rich biodiversity of this site, Donside is helping to ensure residents can continue to enjoy the wonderful wildlife on their doorsteps.
